Christopher Williams is a practicing attorney and counselor at law who has served at every level of American government – municipal, county, state and federal. A member of the adjunct faculty of the Department of Healthcare and Public Administration at LIU Post, Professor Williams teaches non-profit law, strategic human resource management, public administration, ethics, grantwriting and analytical research methods.
A former legislative policy analyst and Congressional lawyer, Williams currently serves as Director of Development at Suffolk County Community College – the largest and most comprehensive two-year institution of higher learning in the State University of New York, where he strives to advance pathways to success for Suffolk’s 27,000 students.
Born and raised in Huntington, Long Island, New York, Christopher Williams is a first generation American – the son of English and Scottish immigrant parents. His late father Robert, a pioneer of solar energy, was an engineering professor at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York and was elected President of the National Association of Power Engineers (N.A.P.E.).
A lifelong student of public policy, Williams graduated from SUNY Farmingdale and the Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy at the State University of New York at Albany where he conducted undergraduate research into the former Long Island Lighting Company’s controversial Shoreham Nuclear Power Plant.Chris is also an alumnus of the Touro College, Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center in Central Islip, New York. He served as Executive Assistant District Attorney of Suffolk County, as a Senior Assistant County Attorney in the Suffolk County Department of Law and as a Special Deputy Inspector General and Senior Investigative Attorney with the Office of the Inspector General, New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) where he investigated and prosecuted fraud, waste and abuse in the world’s largest public transportation agency.
Williams is most proud of his three children, Jeremy u2013 a student at Hofstra Law School, Grace – an alumna of SUNY Farmingdale and internet influencer, and Chris – studying at SUNY Binghamton.Williams is active in the life of his community and his church.
