Freedom of Information Law
LIPA’s public records are available under the Freedom of Information Law (FOIL). Please browse the dropdown menu above as many records, including LIPA’s budget, electric tariffs, clean energy initiatives, Board of Trustees minutes, and other public records are already posted online. If you do not see what you’re looking for, you may request records for inspection and copying upon written request to Bobbi O’Connor, Records Access Officer, Long Island Power Authority, 333 Earle Ovington Blvd., Suite 403, Uniondale, New York 11553.
Written requests must provide sufficient information to identify the record sought, including, if possible, dates, location, subject matter or other descriptive information. FOIL requests must be made by one of the following methods:
- by mailing your request, postage prepaid, to the Records Access Officer at the above-mentioned address.
- the following email address: [email protected].
- by completing the Open FOIL NY form at the bottom of this page.
FOIL authorizes LIPA to charge $0.25 per page for duplicating documents up to 8-1/2 inches by 14 inches in size, or the actual cost of reproduction for documents with larger pages or for color copies. See Public Officer Law §87 for more information on permissible fees. LIPA customers requesting electronic copies of their own account records are not charged a fee. LIPA also reserves the option to waive fees for FOIL requests of a non-commercial nature. Where fees apply, payment is required before sending responsive records.
Pursuant to Section 89(4) of FOIL, if you believe any portion of your request has been improperly denied, any appeal of the decision denying your request may be made in writing within 30 business days to the Chief Executive Officer, Long Island Power Authority, 333 Earle Ovington Blvd, Suite 403, Uniondale, New York 11553.
