
Jennifer Hayen
Director of Communications
Jennifer Hayen is LIPA’s Director of Communications. Ms. Hayen leads all of LIPA’s corporate communications functions, including strategic and executive communications, media relations, brand and reputation management, crisis communications, and more. Ms. Hayen serves as LIPA’s official spokeswoman and oversees service provider communications and marketing efforts.
Ms. Hayen is also the Communications Advisor to the Large Public Power Council (LPPC), an organization comprising 29 of the largest public power systems in the nation, serving 30.5 million American consumers across 22 states and Puerto Rico. Additionally, Ms. Hayen served as Chair of LPPC’s Communications Task Force and Chair of its Communications Executives Working Group.
Since joining the organization in 2018, Ms. Hayen’s work has been recognized with numerous awards by the American Public Power Association, as well as personal distinctions including a Long Island Business News 40 Under Forty Award, Herald Community Newspapers Premier Business Woman of Long Island Award, and Schneps Media Power Women of Long Island Award.
Prior to LIPA, Ms. Hayen worked in several capacities for the New York State Senate Majority Press Office in Albany, New York, and as the Director of Communications for a New York State Senator on Long Island.
Ms. Hayen holds a Bachelor of Arts from the State University of New York at Binghamton and a Master of Science from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.
