Electric Safety & Reliability
Teachers & Students
Below are some resources and programs available to Long Island teachers and students.
Electric Safety Classroom Presentations
For third, fourth and fifth graders, LIPA offers a program where a retired employee of LIPA will come to your school and conduct a 30-45 minute class on the dos and don’ts of conduct around electricity. We will work with your teachers to coordinate the presentation sessions. The presentation works best when given to groups of no more than 75 students in an all-purpose room. All students will receive an activity book on the lesson, which is also available for download in the Electric Universe.
Electric Universe
If these options don’t fit into your busy agenda, then don’t forget the LIPA Web site. The Electric Universe is more than 600 Web pages deep and filled with information for elementary, middle school and high school students. There’s also a portion entitled the Teachers Lounge with suggested lesson plans and electric experiments – all are labeled age appropriate.
