Facts about LIPA’s Solar Pioneer Program

Investing in Solar Energy or “PV” (Photovoltaics) technology makes good sense whether you are a Residential or Business customer, School or Municipality. Now in its 8th year, LIPA’s nationally recognized Solar Pioneer Program has installed over 1,300 PV systems on Long Island.

• LIPA has over 1,700 Solar Pioneer Customers throughout LIPA service territory.
• These Customers are generating over 9 megawatts of non-polluting solar electricity on Long Island … that is the equivalent of reducing C02 emissions by 6,260 tons a year!
• To date, LIPA has rebated over $40 million dollars in direct incentives to customers who have installed a PV system on their home or business.
• LIPA helped support the installation of a 1.01 MW solar electric system, one of the largest commercial PV systems in the US, at Fala Direct Marketing in Farmingdale under its Research and Development Program.
• LIPA is ranked nationally as a leading solar electricity provider in the US.
