Solar Pioneer Program
American Recovery & Reinvestment Act
LIPA was able to secure American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (2009) funding to allow us to re-open the Solar Pioneer Program.
ARRA Funding Highlights
- The rebate level is currently $1.75/watt
- In order for customers to utilize ARRA
funding as a means of receiving the Solar
Pioneer incentive, there are certain
provisions that are required under the ARRA
rules. These provisions are:
- New ARRA FUNDING APPLICATION (PDF) is required for all new applications submitted.
- All applicants are required to complete and submit LIPA's Residential Solar Pioneer Rebate Supplemental Historical Preservation Information form as part of the process.
- All applicants are required to complete the Waste Management Form (PDF)
- ALL APPLICATIONS PREVIOUSLY SUBMITTED but not been completed/installed yet, customers must sign and submit an Addendum (PDF) to the original application, which provides for the additional ARRA provisions. This Addendum must be completed and returned to LIPA in order for us to process, approve, and pay the incentive upon completion of the installation
- A signed Solar PV installation contract is required as part of the initial application
ARRA Funding Guidelines
- ALL NEW APPLICATIONS SUBMITTED must submit an ARRA FUNDING APPLICATION (PDF)
- ALL APPLICATIONS PREVIOUSLY SUBMITTED must submit an Addendum (PDF)
- Only applications that are complete will be pre-approved
- In addition, complete applications must include 2 copies of the PGA, a one-line diagram, Google Map Satellite view, a $100 application fee and the signed Solar PV installation contract
Why these changes occurred
While LIPA has increased its investment
in its solar programs, the declining cost of
installation, unprecedented demand for solar
systems and continued federal, state and
local tax incentives provide LIPA the
opportunity to once again adjust its rebate
structure to keep it in line with the ever
changing solar market. Since 2000, solar
customers have seen a decline in the amount
of investment needed to participate in solar
energy.
