Home Performance with ENERGY STAR®
Home Performance with ENERGY STAR is a home improvement program designed to save homeowners up to 20% on their monthly energy bills.
To qualify for rebates offered through the Program, the energy efficiency improvements must be evaluated through a Comprehensive Home Audit and installed by an approved participating contractor.

Participating Contractors
Sponsored by the Long Island Power Authority (LIPA), Each participating contractor has earned certification through the Building Performance Institute (BPI), a national resource for building science technology that sets standards for assessing and improving the energy performance of homes. BPI Accredited Home Performance Contractors use the most advanced state-of-the-art equipment to test the home and identify energy efficiency improvements.
Comprehensive Home Audit
As part of the Home Performance with ENERGY STAR® program, your participating contractor will perform a Comprehensive Home Audit (CHA), which generally lasts one to three hours. The Home Performance contractor will also provide a cost estimate to do the improvements. The CHA provides homeowners with the valuable information such as:
- Carbon Monoxide levels and/or moisture problems
- Air infiltration rates / Insulation levels
- Heating / cooling / hot water system efficiency
- Central air conditioning efficiency- if applicable
- Distribution system (ductwork)- if applicable
- Lighting & Major appliances
