Eligible customers can save money on every bill with this reduced rate.

Program Highlights

The Household Assistance Rate provides a reduction in the Delivery & System Charges portion of the bill. You may qualify if you receive benefits from certain non-LIPA financial assistance programs.

You may be eligible for this rate if:

  1. You have an active residential LIPA account in your name
  2. You currently receive benefits from at least one of the following programs
     
    1. Public Assistance
    2. Medicaid
    3. Food stamps
    4. Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
    5. Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP)
    6. Veteran’s Disability Pension
    7. Veteran’s Surviving Spouse Pension
    8. Child Health Plus

Enrollment

Customers can enroll in several ways: they may be automatically enrolled in this rate when LIPA is notified by an assistance agency that a customer is a recipient of one of the programs above; be on a similar rate at National Grid (as a gas customer), or fill out an application and provide proof of eligibility. You will know you have been enrolled on the rate when your rate is preceded by a “D” and Household Assistance is part of your rate description.
