LIPA’s Web Site Ranked Number One in Eastern Region
Amongst All Other Electric and Gas Utility Web Sites
Uniondale, NY—August 17, 2007—The Long Island Power Authority (LIPA) announced today that LIPA’s Web site "www.lipower.org” was ranked Number 1 in the Eastern region amongst all other electric and gas utility Web sites.
The “E Source 2007 Review of U.S. Electric and Gas Company Web Sites” assess 111 U.S and Canadian utility Web sites based on customer’s interaction with the site. E Source researchers evaluated each site, rating 27 specific tasks or functions, including Web site design, usability, customer segmentation, customer information and online customer service.
“LIPA is very pleased that its Web site would rank so high based on customer satisfaction,” said LIPA CEO & President Richard M. Kessel. “We’re committed to providing our customers with the type of excellent service and valuable information they’ll need to get the most out of their energy dollars.”
Information is one of the most important tools the Long Island Power Authority can provide its customers to help them use electricity wisely. From online outage reports to monthly podcasts, LIPA’s Web site is using today’s technology to its fullest to ensure that Long Islanders have all the means necessary to obtain the important information they are looking for. LIPA, a non-profit municipal electric provider, owns the retail electric Transmission and Distribution System on Long Island and provides electric service to more than 1.1 million customers in Nassau and Suffolk counties and the Rockaway Peninsula in Queens. LIPA is the 2nd largest municipal electric utility in the nation in terms of electric revenues, 3rd largest in terms of customers served and the 7th largest in terms of electricity delivered. In 2010, LIPA outperformed all other overhead electric utilities in New York State for frequency of service interruptions, and ranked second for duration of service interruptions.
