Kessel Reports on LIPA Issues at HIA Luncheon
Melville, N.Y. – March 13, 2007 – For the seventh year in a row, Long
Island Power Authority (LIPA) CEO/President Richard M. Kessel, gave a status
report on electric energy issues important to Long Island and the region to the
members of the Hauppauge Industrial Association (HIA) at its monthly luncheon.
Mr. Kessel’s talk centered on LIPA’s many accomplishments over the last nine
years in increasing its electric supply, improving and expanding its
Transmission and Distribution System, and controlling costs for ratepayers, and
fostering energy efficiency.
At the same time, Mr. Kessel also commented on issues currently facing LIPA
such as: the proposed acquisition of KeySpan by National Grid; repowering Long
Island’s older power plants; and developing a comprehensive program to reduce
electric energy demand growth in the years ahead.
