Statement by
Richard M. Kessel
Chairman, Long Island Power Authority
“Contrary to the misleading front-page headline of today’s Newsday, LIPA
started giving back to its customers the full $156 million in lower fuel and
purchased power costs by reducing its Power Supply Charge in October by 7.6%.
“The Power Supply Charge reduction, which lowers the overall bill by 4%, will
be held through 2007.
“Holding bills at the reduced level will return the full $156 million to our
customers.
“As has been stated publicly and carried by the media on numerous occasions
in recent months, if fuel and purchased power costs decrease further in the
months ahead, LIPA will lower the Power Supply Charge further.” |
