LIPA Gives Two Long Island Schools Grants for Solar Installations

Uniondale, NY—March 13, 2008— The Long Island Power Authority (LIPA) distributed matching grants of $125,000 each to the Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District and the Wantagh Union Free School District for solar installations in each district. Under this project the School Districts are receiving a total funding of $250,000, $125,000 from the Community Capital Assistance Program (CCAP); and $125,000 in matching funds from LIPA. Each district will be receiving a 20kW solar photovoltaic system and educational materials on the photovoltaic system and technology for use in the District’s school. The funds provided by LIPA will be paid in the form of a rebate in accordance with LIPA’s Solar Pioneer Program and in addition to the rebate LIPA will pay for the installation and educational material.
