LIPA Celebrates Change A Light Season

Uniondale, NY— October 3, 2007— Long Islanders can save $63 a year in energy costs by changing just five light fixtures in their homes. And, if every LIPA residential customer replaced just one light bulb with an ENERGY STAR qualified bulb, enough energy would be saved to light more than 7,000 homes for a year; reduce annual energy costs by more than $13 million; and prevent greenhouse gases equivalent to the emissions of more than 70,000 cars.

“This is something every member of the public can do to help preserve the earth, and how much simpler can you get then changing a light bulb," said Beth Fiteni, LI Neighborhood Network.
