LIPA Responds Quickly and to Restore Outages in the Wake of Tropical Storm

Uniondale, NY—September 3, 2006—The remnants of Tropical Storm Ernesto
battered Long Island this weekend uprooting trees and taking down power lines.
With wind gusts reaching over 57MPH accompanied by torrential rains, the Long
Island Power Authority’s (LIPA) restoration crews worked tirelessly to restore
service to customers that were affected by service interruptions.

The remnants of Tropical Storm Ernesto raged
across Long Island knocking down trees and wrecking havoc
with LIPA's Electrical System. However, LIPA crews restored
service to all 127,799 customers that were affected by the
storm by noon Monday.
