LIPA Responds to Near-record Winter Storm

An intense cold-weather system moved across Long Island on Sunday, February 12, carrying a one-two punch of heavy drifting snows and high winds. As a result, the Long Island Power Authority (LIPA) restored to service some 7,000 customers impacted by the storm.

This job, one of 168 done in a 24-hour period, required the downed tree to be removed before repair crews could reconstruct this portion of the distribution system.
