An intense cold-weather
system moved across Long Island on Sunday, February 12, carrying a one-two punch of heavy drifting snows and
high winds. As a result, the Long Island Power Authority (LIPA)
restored to service some 7,000 customers impacted by the storm.

LIPA crews responding to customer outages during the
near-record winter storm that hit Long Island with heavy
snow accumulation and high winds
Highly skilled KeySpan service personnel worked in
difficult conditions to make repairs during and after the
storm.
It's not easy being an electric service lineman.
Trees and tree limbs did the most extensive damage as
shown here where rear-yard distribution lines that serve a
number of customers were ripped down
This job, one of 168 done in a 24-hour period, required
the downed tree to be removed before repair crews could
reconstruct this portion of the distribution system.
