Solar Testimonials
The following customers have all taken part in LIPA's Solar Pioneer & Entrepreneur Program.
Land Planning Services, Wainscott - Commercial PV Application
“The decisions to install the photovoltaic system was pretty east to arrive at given the giant south facing roof of the Land Planning Services building and the business tax credits. And, it has made a tremendous difference in our electric bills. Now, we actually help our clients plan their future buildings to take advantage of the sun.” - Lauri Wiltshire, Land Planning Services

Dalglish Residence, East Patchogue - 1.8 kW PV Solar Laminate
“Our 1,415 square foot 3 bedroom green house, built with SIPS, single zoned heated and cooled by geothermal with an air radiant floor, a solar thermal mass wall 22 feet high, and a whole lot of passive solar windows consumes 12,391 kWh a year. Of this, 1,752 kWh are generated by 300 square feet (1.8 kW) of solar laminate material on a standing seam roof. That’s 17% of all our electrical consumption. Our only other energy consumption is 4 therms of natural gas per month, which comes free with the service charge. We have net-metering with LIPA and our rebates and tax credits have already paid for the solar system. Next year, when we get our fireplace working, we will cut the heating cost much more”. - Campbell and Catherine Dalglish

DeCarlo Residence , West Islip - 10 kW Rooftop PV system
“I have had my home powered by solar technology for the last 5 years. 75% of my electrical needs are satisfied via the sun. The system is as reliable as the sun and is extremely low maintenance. I think the best part of this technology is that the energy production and delivery are not controlled by anyone. In the future, our PV technology will get better and our battery technology for overnight storage will improve as a result of the electric car. We will then be our own energy producers where you could charge your electric car at night with your electricity produced during the day by PV. Imagine that!” - Joe DeCarlo

Duggan Residence, Center Moriches - 10 kW Rooftop PV system
“We have had our system now for a few years and are absolutely thrilled whenever we see our meter running BACKWARDS. We love when God sends a sunny day and free electricity, plus it helps our environment… a win-win situation!” - Andrea Duggan

Klar Residence, Amagansett - 5.7 kW Rooftop PV System &
Solar Pool Heating System
“The PV system has been in place since our home was new and the return on investment continues to build. Our winter bills are usually less than $10 per month and credits build to be used in the Spring. The solar panels on the pool have already paid for themselves. It is incumbent upon all of us to do what we can to better sustain our environment. Being a LIPA Pioneer has helped us to make our contribution and keep our energy costs lower as well.” - Eileen & Neil Klar
