NY ENERGY STAR® Consumers

Imagine a new home that uses approximately 30% less energy every year you own it. As part of the New York ENERGY STAR Labeled Homes program, consumers will not only experience a safer, quiet and more comfortable home but also real savings in the years to come.

A New York ENERGY STAR labeled home uses approximately 30% less energy than conventionally built homes.
These savings come from a variety of energy-saving features, including increased insulation, high-performance windows and doors, high-efficiency heating and cooling systems, and energy-saving appliances and lighting.

NY ENERGY STAR labeled homes are "performance tested."
As part of the program, each New York ENERGY STAR labeled home must pass a stringent evaluation, including a computer-based energy analysis, inspections, and certification testing. Only those homes that meet high efficiency guidelines are certified as New York ENERGY STAR labeled homes. While many builders claim to build “energy-efficient” homes, only builders of NY ENERGY STAR labeled homes can prove it.

A New York ENERGY STAR labeled home is safer, healthier and more comfortable.
New York ENERGY STAR labeled homes are warm in the winter, cool in the summer, and free from unpleasant drafts. These homes are also tested to ensure that no harmful gases are present in the home.

You’ll see real savings with a New York ENERGY STAR labeled home.
Every part of a New York ENERGY STAR labeled home is designed to save energy so you save money. Even if your initial investment is slightly higher, you’ll see monthly savings thanks to lower energy use. It’s an investment that will continue to pay back for as long as you own your home.

Building a New York ENERGY STAR labeled home doesn’t have to cost more.
If you choose to incorporate additional energy-saving measures and equipment, the incremental cost could be applied to your mortgage. The money you save in lower energy costs can more than pay for the difference in additional mortgage costs, giving you a positive cash flow from the day you move in. Or you can take those savings and invest in other amenities for your new home, like hardwood floors, upgraded kitchen cabinets, or even a deck. The energy savings give you greater buying power.

Before you break ground on your new home call a participating New York ENERGY STAR Labeled Homes builder near you.
