ENERGY STAR® Qualified
Dehumidifiers
Dehumidifiers remove excess moisture from the air, helping to reduce allergy symptoms, musty odors, and condensation. ENERGY STAR qualified dehumidifiers have more efficient refrigeration coils, compressors, and fans than conventional models, and they meet or exceed requirements for energy efficiency.
ENERGY STAR qualified dehumidifiers remove the same amount of moisture from the air as a conventional model but use 10-20% less energy. For a 40 pint unit, this can add up to savings of $30 per year, or $300 over the life of the unit.
Proper sizing of a dehumidifier is also very important. If the space being dehumidified has temperatures that typically fall below 65 degrees, you may want to consider buying a product that is specified for use at lower temperatures. Some ENERGY STAR qualified models are rated for use at temperatures as low as 42 degrees.
2008
Rebate Applications
For 2008 LIPA is introducing rebates on ENERGY
STAR qualified dehumidifiers. Between 1/1/08 and
12/31/08 customers who submit a mail-in rebate form
will receive a $10 rebate on eligible ENERGY
STAR qualified dehumidifiers.
