Rebate Guidelines

Please note that LIPA reserves the right to change guidelines at any time without notice. Project must be started between 1/1/0212 and completed by 6/30/12.

  • Program measures and rebate levels are pre-determined
  • If you do not see the equipment you chose on the Eligibility Table (PDF), contact your LIPA Rep or LIPA’s Infoline at 1-800-692-2626
  • If the equipment you are proposing is listed in the Eligibility Table, you must use this application.
  • Customers must agree to LIPA’s Terms and Conditions found on Lighting Retrofit Application form (PDF)
  • Annual incentive cap per project is $200,000. Cap per customer, per year is $600,000
  • Project cap will not exceed total project cost
  • New construction and major renovation projects are not eligible
  • Pre-approval is required for participation in the program
  • List of measures may be updated or modified frequently.

How to Participate

Before you purchase and install equipment, send the following to LIPA to receive your pre-approval letter:

  • Completed Lighting Retrofit Application (PDF) Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
  • Electronic Submission of the completed Lighting Retrofit Worksheet (XLS - ENABLE MACROS) to: retrofit@lipower.org.
  • Manufacturer’s technical specification sheets (cut sheets) for each type of eligible equipment
  • Contractor Proposal if replacing 100 fixtures or more
  • Date-stamped digital photos of existing conditions
  • Photos are acceptable for lighting projects with less than 100 fixtures. Photos must clearly identify fixture
  • Fixture replacement of 100 fixtures or more may require field verification

Submittal Information:

  • Forward all required documents (listed above) to your LIPA representative or:
  • Email electronic submissions to retrofit@lipower.org. Include LIPA account number in subject line.
  • Submit hardcopy submissions to LIPA CEP Retrofit, 25 Hub Drive, Melville, NY, 11747

Pre-Approval Letter and Beyond

  • After you receive your pre-approval letter, complete the project.
  • After project is complete:
    • Submit copies of itemized invoice showing the facility address, date and place of purchase and the model/part numbers of installed equipment.
    • Submit W-9
    • A LIPA Representative may contact you to schedule a Post-inspection.
