When does my participation
in the DirectPay Program begin?
You will be notified by mail and a message on your bill will
confirm your participation date. Please continue to pay your
bill as you normally would until you are notified otherwise.
Allow four to six weeks for processing. We will notify you
of approval or other action taken by mail.
When does the money have to be in
my bank account?
A message on your bill will indicate when your bank account
will be charged - usually 20 days from the date the bill is
issued.
What if I have questions about
the bill amount?
Just call us at 1-800-490-0025 or 631-755-6000 at least 5
days before the date we will charge your account, and we
will clarify any questions you have before your payment is
deducted.
Is there a charge for DirectPay?
There is no charge from LIPA, however, some banks charge for
this service. Check with your bank before you enroll.
Who can participate in
DirectPay?
Long Island customers with a good payment history and who
expect to be a full-time customer are eligible.
Will I have a record of the
transaction?
Both your bank statement and bill will serve as a
record of the transaction.
How does DirectPay benefit LIPA?
DirectPay is a cost-effective way of processing your
payment. Keeping costs low helps to keep down electric
rates.
